Oscar, The Hallowiener

Crispy air, PUMPKINS, and changing colors only mean one thing... It's time for my favorite read aloud, The Hallowiener by Dav Pilkey!

Year after year, I read this picture book to my students and fall in love with the message and, main character, Oscar all over again. This year, I wanted to make sure that The Hallowiener is more than just a read aloud but a week long learning party with Oscar being the STAR. To see more about this read aloud kit - you can click the blue button below, but keep reading for your freebie!

Not only does Hallowiener promote kindness, but Oscar is an awesome character to analyze with your students and one that they can easily see change from beginning to end. My kiddos have always been a fan of describing Oscar's outward appearance and rocking a character hat full of Oscar's traits will surly excite them.

And since Oscar in his hotdog costume is the star of the week, it must make an appearance in a literacy center, too. Grab this freebie activity and let your kiddos practice letter recognition and formation by making mustard letters on Oscar's adorable costume that saved Halloween night!
